Are you paying too much for your life insurance?

Are you paying too much for your life insurance?Life insurance is no different to other insurances, such as home or motor – it always pays to shop around for the right product. And even if you do have an existing policy, it doesn’t mean you cannot get the same level of cover cheaper elsewhere.

And with life insurance premiums being up to 40% cheaper than they were a few years ago due to advances in medicine helping us all live longer, now may be a good time to either check your existing arrangements or take out a policy.

It is always a good idea to get several life insurance quotes before applying for a policy. This is because premiums can vary from provider to provider, so by getting a life insurance quote first, you can shop around for the most competitively priced life insurance policy.

You can get a life insurance quote from a number of places, such as your bank or other financial organisation, but probably, the quickest and easiest, no-hassle way to get a quote is to do it online. There are websites that will give you an immediate online quote so that you can get a feel for how much your premiums will be.

Remember, however, that quotes are a guide only and they could change once you have completed a full application. However, if this does happen and you are not happy with the premium, you are not under any obligation to proceed with the policy.

You should always tell the truth on your application form – no matter how negative you feel it might be. For example, if you are a heavy drinker or smoker or you don’t disclose your full medical history, you will get cover that may not be valid. This means that should you die and it turns out you lied on your application form, the insurers legally don’t have to pay out your claim.

Finally, don’t forget to check out the terms and conditions offered by the different insurers so that you can compare quotes on a like-for-like basis and get the cover that best suits your circumstances.

MONEY SAVING SNIPPET! – Eat before you shop!

MONEY SAVING SNIPPET! – Eat before you shop!
Studies have proven that shopping while hungry, depressed, tired, and/or stressed, you buy more. So, before you hit the shops – whether it be your local supermarket or shopping centre - eat something.

Most of us do succumb at one time or another to the temptation of sweets and confectionery on offer at the checkout till – it’s a very clever marketing ploy. You are paying for your goods and are feeling a bit peckish or tired and think: “A bar of chocolate is just what I need for a lift, and it’s only 40p”.

Do that every time you do your weekly shop, and it’ll cost you £20.80 over the course of a year!

Similarly, if you are upset, try and calm yourself down and wait until you feel better before you head out to shop. As strange as it may sound, having a clear mind is important when it comes to shopping and spending money, making you less likely to impulse buy (and regret it later).

Make cash from your trash!

Make cash from your trash!Last month, I made over £150 just by selling off stuff I was going to throw out in the rubbish! The month before I made £125! And I’m not the only one, there are people - individuals like you and me - who actually live off their earnings from what they have sold on websites like Amazon and Ebay.

Most of us have stuff lying around the house – or up in the loft – that we no longer want. In my case it was old paperbacks, CDs, DVDs and some hardback books relating to a Floristry course I did over ten years ago that I’d forgotten about.

I sold all these via Amazon and the only cost to me was a little bit of time. Amazon charges the buyer fees on your behalf to cover postage and packaging which they give to you along with the purchase price, then take a fee for the sale themselves.

It is extremely simple to do and the money for any sales is automatically transferred into your bank account on a regular basis. You don’t have to get involved in any financial transactions yourself – they do it all for you.

A friend of mine found a mummified rat in one of the roof cavities in her loft. He was sold for £13 on Ebay and now this Gloucestershire mummified rat is pride of place in someone’s house in Sweden!

Of course, when selling stuff, the most important thing is to be honest about the condition of the item for sale. If you are selling a paperback where the pages are browned with age or have creases or tears in, then say so in the product description.

That way, the buyer knows what to expect and you are less liable to get someone demanding their money back when they get something not as they expected!

Other than that – have fun! I cannot wait every morning to open my emails to see how many books or CDs I have sold online. It’s literally like making money while you sleep!
